Excellent U.S Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle
Description:
Serial #478131, .45-70, 32 1/2” barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few minor hints of freckling within the grooves.
This is a beautiful rifle that has 95% of the original blue finish remaining on the barrel, lock, and furniture.
The only real finish loss worth mentioning occurs at the muzzle from a no longer present socket bayonet.
The breechblock likewise has has managed to retain practically all of its original vivid color case-hardening with only trace fading along the edges.
The walnut stock has a few scattered minor scratches and blemishes in the otherwise excellent original finish, mostly towards the butt, and the “SWP/1889” cartouche is crisp and clear on the left side.
Even the buttplate retains most of the original blue finish and the rifle rates excellent overall.
