Heym (Martini) Express Rifle, Double square bridge Magnum, .416 Rigby, Mint
Description:
Heym Martini Express Rifle (redesigned 2011 by Ralf Martini), .416 Rigby, Upgrades, Mint
Heym’s redesigned Martini Express Rifle is individually hand crafted around Heym’s proprietary double square bridge magnum action and Krupp steel 24” barrel – both of which are made in-house by Heym, located in Gleichamberg, Thuringia, Germany. Heym’s high grade rifles are still built by hand, and every part is made and finished in house. No two parts on two Heym rifles are interchangeable: Each is hand-fitted to painstaking tolerances
The world-class action is a modern German Mauser 98 Magnum action with all the features of Safari styling, popular with Professional Hunters. The action is controlled-round-feeding with classic Mauser straight bolt handle (also Ralf Martini’s design) and uses a Winchester Model 70 three-position safety with one-piece hinged straddle floorplate with center-bow release. Other Safari features include a banded front sight ramp, banded front sling eye, island express rear sight with one folding and one fixed leaves.
Key to the re-design in 2011, Heym consulted Ralf Martini of Martini Gunmakers, Cranbrook, BC Canada, to use Martini’s renowned stock design for their (Heym’s) new express rifles. A member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild, Ralf’s design is the quintessential classic style preferred by Professional Hunters: open grip, ebony forearm tip, tapered (English style) forearm, steel grip cap, superbly beaded cheekpiece, and natural rubber red recoil pad. Additionally, this specimen’s stock is oiled English walnut with excellent figure showing on both profiles. Stock accessories include rear sling eye, single recoil crossbolt, and steel pistol grip cap.
Upgrades include next level wood figure, rear receiver bridge fitted for Talley Quick Detachable scope rings and case coloring of the central action parts including receiver, breech bolt sleeve, trigger guard, floorplate, pistol grip cap and even the auxiliary Talley QD rings.
LOP is 14 ½” over 5/8” solid red Old English recoil pad; Weight is 11 lbs. 8 oz. with scope.
The scope is a high-grade Austrian-made Kahles 1.1-4x24 with 30mm tube diameter; a sought-after African favorite.
Replacement cost of the rifle without upgrades is $10,500. Add-on’s include case coloring and bridges fitted to rings -- $2200, wood figure -- $750, and scope new -- $2,300, bringing the total package to $15,750.
