Rare Non-Import Marked Swedish Rifle Carl Gustafs Model 1896
Description: Serial #328503, 6.5mm Swedish, 29 1/2” barrel with non-threaded muzzle and an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1914 dated, and almost all matching rifle (the cleaning rod is mismatched) that retains about 97-98% of the original blue finish that has some touches of mild gray and silvering along some of the exposed edges and bearing surfaces. The straight-handled bolt retains its original armory bright finish that has freckled very slightly on the handle in a few spots. The darkly finished stock and handguard exhibit only minor handling marks and surface blemishes in the original military oil finish throughout and the stock disk has been marked at “1” (excellent, serviceable); and at nominal bore diameter 6.50mm. Additionally, the metal rifle grenade range table plaque is still present on the right side of the butt. This is an excellent, little-used example of a World War I era Swedish Mauser that does not have an import mark.
