This is an excellent example of the Inland M1 Paratrooper Carbine. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. CARBINE / CAL. 30 M1" on the front and "INLAND DIV. / 445090" on the rear. The top of the barrel is marked "INLAND MFD. DIV. / GENERAL MOTORS / 5 - 43". The right rear of the trigger group is stamped "INLAND" which is an Inland mark. The hammer is marked "H.I." which is an Inland mark. The short smooth magazine release is marked "W-I" which is an Inland mark. The smooth push button safety is unmarked which is Inland and others. The inside of the operating slide is marked "PI" which is an Inland mark. The flat bolt is marked "IO" which is an Inland mark. The front sight is marked "N" which is an Inland mark and others. The Type I rear sight is marked "S" on the left which is consistent with Inland and others. The Type IA barrel band is marked "UI" on the right side of the band which are Inland marks. The inside of the handguard is marked "IO" which is an Inland mark. The interior of the forearm is marked "IO" next to the magazine well wall which is correct for an M1A1 stock.
