Offered for sale is one full box of Winchester 1894-1994 Winchester Model 94 Special Edition Cartridges. The Winchester Model 1894 Rifle was introduced in 1894 and sometime during the 1920's, the 18 was dropped from the model number designation and it became known as the Model 94. The Model 94 rifle is still being produced today. These 30-30 cartridges are loaded with 150 grain Power Point bullets, nickel plated cases and head stamped; "1894-1994 30WCF." When Winchester introduced the 30-30 cartridge in 1895, it was simply called the 30 Winchester Center Fire (WCF) as these cartridge are marked, not 30-30. The standard for naming a cartridge at that time, was to use a series of numbers to identify the cartridge. The first pair of numbers identified the caliber in decimal, the next set of numbers identified the BLACK POWDER weight in grains and if more than one bullet was used, the bullet weight in grains was listed last. Such as: 44-40, 38-55 and 45-70-405. The 30 WCF was one of the first SMOKELESS POWDER loadings for Winchester, therefore the 30-30 designation would not apply, since it was loaded with smokeless powder not black powder. However, it was loaded with 30 grains of SMOKELESS POWDER and people began calling it the 30-30. The rest as they say is history.
