This is a Ste. Etienne-made bayonet that measures 27 5/8" overall with a 22 3/4" yataghan blade having wide single fullers. The blade has a once armory bright, gray finish with mild surface freckling throughout, as well as some minor areas of light oxidation at the very tip. The ricasso is armory proofed on both sides, and the back edge is maker marked along the forte. The iron crossguard has the same darkly freckled gray patina, and is serial numbered on the reverse: “P 94971". The hilt has an overall bright yellow-ochre patina with scattered small impact marks, and darker tarnish along the reverse side of the grip. The non-matching scabbard has an added black paint finish with a few flaked and retouched areas along its length. This is a nice example of a Ste. Etienne-made bayonet, and rates good-very good condition overall.
