This bayonet measures 21" overall with an 18" straight, angular blade having twin hollow ground back flutes and a single wide fuller along the interior face with clear “US" stamp on the ricasso beneath. The bayonet retains about 97-98% of arsenal reapplied blue finish that has a small amount of silvering at the tip, as well as along the edges and bearing surfaces of the socket and locking ring. The bayonet is housed in an excellent, original Prairie Scabbard that retains 90-95% of the original blue that has flaked to gray near the tip, which has some dark brown pitting in its own right. The brass belt hook has a pleasant yellow-ochre tarnish, and the leather collar is in fine shape with light surface wear and minor flaking on the back. This is a very nice looking Trapdoor bayonet, and rates fine condition overall.
