Japanese Type 30 Hooked Quillon Bayonet (Koishikawa Arsenal)
Description: This is a great looking example that measures 20 inches overall, with a 15 1/2 inch straight, single-edged blade having single, stopped fullers. The blade has an armory bright finish with some visible sharpening marks along the edge, and areas of dark freckling throughout. Additionally, there is some pinprick pitting within the fullers. The stacked cannonballs emblem of the Koishikawa Arsenal (Tokyo) is deeply struck on the ricasso reverse. The hilt has a similar bright finish on the metal with brown freckling throughout, especially on the pommel. A serial number is present on the pommel, but is only partially legible due to some deep impact marks, but the press-stud and catch are still fully functional. The wooden grips are in very good shape with a few scattered handling marks and blemishes. The scabbard has traces of the original blue finish remaining with plum-brown steel on the balance, brighter metal along the edges, and a pair of small dents on the top edge near the tip. The leather frog is heavily crazed, but still intact and fully serviceable. This is a great example of a desirable, hooked quillon Type 30 bayonet, and is in good-very good overall condition.
