This sword has the cipher of Queen Victoria in the right guard which is Gilt cast brass with slit for a sword knot. The blade is etched with "Canada militia surrounding the Canadian beaver. The blade is 33 3/4 and 1 " wide at the ricasso. The scabbard is of solid brass with 2 hanging rings. The leather grip is now missing the wire windings. The grip covering appears to have been replaced at some time. The scarcity of the Canada militia swords should lead to a possible restoration of the grip. The blade shows overall pitting and an obscured makers or retailers name and address. This sword is in less than perfect condition but is relatively scarce considering the limited number that were probably purchased and which appears on the market.
