This 45 inch sword features unstopped single fullers about 3 inches long on the 38 inch blade. The fullers retain remnants of writing and maker's marks. The cup hilt is chiseled iron with shell and fan decorations inside and out and has about 180 piercings. The rolled quillons and guard are attached to large chiseled pommel with a handmade screw. The grip is wrapped with straight and braided wire pattern. We suspect this was done in the distant past. A former owner's ID number is electric penciled on blade. It is quite small and unoffensive. All metal shows some pitting and oxidation stains with signs of cleaning. This is a classic sword not often available. The variation of pitting depth between the hilt and blade may be due to the difference in the carbon content of the metal.
