Saxon Model 1845 Fusilier's Sword

Description:
This impressive short sword measures 24 1/4" overall with an 18 3/4" single-edged falchion blade having the "PDL" sunburst trademark on the ricasso reverse and "(crown)/JR" cypher opposite. The steel has a pewter gray patina with scattered mild freckling along both sides and the brass hilt with reversed quillons, grooved grip, and dove-tail pommel with exposed capstan have a fairly bright yellow-ochre patina. the guard is unit marked: "103.R" (repeated on the scabbard throat). The scabbard leather is in fine shape, intact with only minor surface scuffs and blemishes, while the brass throat and tip chape have only some scattered very minor dents. These were actually fairly effective chopping weapons due to the falchion blade and are seldom seen today. This example is in fine condition.
