This Light Cavalry Pattern 1796 conforms to the British measurements of 32 3/4" blade with a 1 1/2" width and 3/8" thickness. Appears as figure 18 in "Swords of the British Army" by Brian Robson except that no "ears" are present on the grip. The scabbard is engraved below the throat "N.Y. C 10". These marks are repeated on lower front of the guard. No grip leather or wire winding remains. Fine overall condition with a bright blade. All other metal is a gray brown. This sword should be re-gripped and cleaned.
