Original Westinghouse Model 1891 Mosin Nagant Cleaning Rod
Description: I was told this came from Bannerman's Military Surplus many years ago. This is an original cleaning rod for the US-Contracted Model 1891 Mosin Nagant Rifle for Russia around 1915. Westinghouse and Remington built the Model 1891 for the Russian Government prior to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 but due to the uprising, both companies got stuck with quite a few Mosin Nagants with no buyer. Fortunately the US Government stepped in and purchased quite a few for troops in World War One, even arming US Infantry with them on an expedition to Russia in 1918-1919. Most of these were abandoned in Russia while others were shipped to the Czechs, Siberia, etc, etc. This particular rod is for a Westinghouse as the tip has the spiral type knurling whereas the Remington has straight knurling. I guess you could call it the Nikola Tesla model! It's in Very Good Condition with no rust or damage. Over the years, we've seen a number of very nice Remington and Westinghouse Nagants that stayed in the United States but did not have their original rods. Today, these rods are almost impossible to find as most went to Russia 100 years ago. Price: $75 Contact Seller |
