This circa 1814 to 1816 U.S. Model 1812 horseman's cavalry saber has a 33 5/8"" arc shaped blade, iron mounts, leather covered grip (leather missing on this example), and iron scabbard. The bright blade is excellent with one manufacturing defect approx. 3.5"" forward of the markings. The blade is marked P/HHP/N. STARR. The bottom of the guard is marked P. The eight-groove wooden grip has some material missing on the left upper rear. The scabbard is good with both swivels present and a couple of dents on the left and much original black paint. This is a nice overall U.S. Model 1812 horseman's saber.
