ALLEN
& WHEELOCK - Collection of .22 Pocket Pistols
Description:
Although there are many variations of the Allen & Wheelock .22 revolver, all models are basically the same. The earlier guns have nicely engraved cylinders, these are the early ones.
The Models are identified,
1). Top left... A First Model, with the off-set hammer, and the cylinder pin entering from the rear. c.1858
2). Bottom left... A very early Second Model, the cylinder pin enters in front of the cylinder. c.1858
3). Top right... The Third Type, referred to as the "button head model", with the rear entry
cylinder pin. c.1858
4). Bottom right... An early Fifth Model, without cylinder engraving, using
a third type hammer , but with the new Fifth Type frame.
A new design, with the Allen Wheelock's, "slow drop grip" design. Note, this 1858 design
would be seen on all subsequent models.
These Allen & Wheelock revolvers are offered from an old collection, and are all mechanically fine.
