ITALIAN Inter-WORLD WAR “BULLDOG” Revolver
Description: ITALIAN Inter-WORLD WAR “BULLDOG” Revolver Made in Pre-WWII Italy Here we present an Italian made “Bulldog” Revolver, manufactured in Italy circa 1930. The British Bull Dog was a popular type of solid frame pocket revolver introduced by Philip Webley & Son of Birmingham, England in 1872, and subsequently copied by gun makers throughout continental Europe and the United States. The design of the British Bull Dog revolver was in existence since 1868, but Henry Webley registered the trademark in 1878. From that time to the present, the term has come to mean any short barreled double-action revolver with a swing-out ejector rod and a short grip. The Bull Dog was very popular in Britain and America. US Army General George Armstrong Custer was said to have carried a pair at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. And, these revolvers were standard issue to employees of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company until 1895. This one bears Italian proof marks and a “1930” stamp, showing it to be made prior to World War II. As there are no import markings, this one very likely came back with an American GI during or after the war. The overall condition is very good. The original blue finish is about 30% with strong case colors. The markings are clear. The grips are in great shape. The bore is clean with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 3 inches. Caliber: 8mm centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
