Rare, Full-Auto Browning M1917A1 - Complete Grouping

Description:
This is an example of a very desirable early belt feed, medium machine gun as remanufactured by Inland Arms of Austin Texas (not to be confused with the GM Inland Division or the Inland Arms currently located in Dayton, Ohio). The 1917 series of machine guns were developed right at the end of WWI; however, they saw service in WWII, Korea and even in Vietnam. The difference between this the 1917 series and the later 1919 series is that the 1917 was fitted with a large water jacket around the barrel to help cool it during heavy sustained fire, while the 1919 was air-cooled. This was patterned after the Maxim MGs that also used a similar water cooling system. Both the 1917 and later 1919 designs were developed by John Browning, based on a square boxed riveted receiver that was so successful it actually became the forerunner to the later M2 50cal which is still in use after over 85 years. This particular example is in fantastic condition, and currently set up to operate with 8mm Mauser. The listing does include a total of five spare barrels, including one for .30-06 and another for .308. With the proper guides, the gun can be used interchangeably with all three calibers, and the seller likely has those guides available should the buyer wish to purchase them. There are many extras included with this listing, including an original 1917 tripod and cradle. There is also an original ammo pouch, five spare barrels, a spare barrel pouch, the water tank, two hoses, a loading device and a case with links/belts for the ammo. The tripod is marked for the M1917A1 and labeled 'Lamson.1942 / R.L.B.", with those initials also on the ammo pouch. The rifling remains strong in every barrel, but a few have some pitting in them while others are excellent throughout. The seller tells us this gun appeared to be in unfired condition when he bought it many years ago, and ran flawlessly for him. Fully transferrable.
