Label is still intact and sealed. Very nice condition box with a small tear on the label. Free Shipping Is Included. The St. Louis Ordnance Plant, operated by the U. S. Cartridge Company, a subsidiary of Western Cartridge Company, was the largest of the small arms ammunition production facilities built during WW2. The site was selected in January 1941, with the first finished rounds accepted by the Ordnance Department on the day after Pearl Harbor. During the next four years it turned out over 7 billion rounds, including ball, armor-piercing, tracer, and incendiary types, making it the world's largest producer of .30 caliber and .50 caliber ammunition. Small arms manufacturing at St. Louis was terminated by the government as of September 1, 1945. The St. Louis Ordnance Plant label has the unique WWII blue and yellow stripes, which identified the contents as Armor Piercing ammunition, and a hand-stamped lot number .
