Description:
This is a Harper's Ferry Pattern 1801 Bayonet used for the Harper’s Ferry 1795 Type I "Charleville" musket. This is a recovered item that has spent much time in the elements. The over-all exterior is well pitted with no markings and the 15 ¼" blade is bent slightly to the right. Some Harper's Ferry muskets have a top bayonet mounting stud, while others have been observed with a bottom bayonet mounting stud, which is how this example's socket is cut. Total length is 18 3/8" with a 3 inch socket, approximately .863" muzzle ring diameter +/-. ;
