“7 Clans of Cherokee” by Stan Tooni, Sr. - Wolftown Community, Cherokee, NC.
Description: (Display In Case)- HAND CARVED tomahawk, bow & arrow, spear, blowgun and arrowheads with carved 7 heads representing Cherokee's seven clans, accented by Red Tail Hawk feathers. All of these items are exhibited on deerskin hide with a cow hide woven rope for hanging, boxed in hand made exhibit box. The piece measures 25"Lx21"Wx2"D. This spictacular, detailed piece of art was exhibited by Stan Tooni prior to being purchased. Stan's work was often exhibited at The Asheville Art Museum in Asheville, N.C., where the museum would exhibit work from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Stan Tonni learned to carve by watching his father who worked in wood and stone. Both liked to do a lot with figures/items associated with Cherokee history like Sequoyah, Eagle Dancers, totems and everyday use items such as those exhibited here. Stan Tooni passed away on January 30, 2019, age 87. Attached is a copy of his obituary from the Cherokee One Feather, the news paper of the Cherokee Community. what a beautiful funeral service it must have been. Price is a reasonable $2,500 because at 75 years old, I believe more people should enjoy this collectors piece of American Native history. I certainly have enjoyed it in my home. SOLD |
