Northern Plains Steel Spearpoint Dag Knife

Description:
Rare Northern Plains, Wood handled Steel Dag Knife, Fur Trade Era. The wood handle is decorated with file imprint. The notched forged steel blade, is a trade item, War lance point with pierced heart, elongated diamond and bird shape design. Length 15 1/2 in. This is a fabulous dag with the natural patina of rusty age. The 10 1/4 in. Blade is typical example of useful trade goods for hunting or war, but not so typical as most steel dag blades. This would be a main feature in any plains indian collection. This great piece shows no repairs or cleaning. The piercing indicates an effort to offer style as well as function. A most unusual addition to any native American or Old West collection. Other items picture are not included.
