A GERMAN LUFTWAFFE 1st MODEL CHAINED DAGGER Third Reich Item

Description:
This 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger has pristine aluminum mounts in a condition that belies its considerable age. The aluminum has a nice satin look to it throughout. The pommel has fairly crisp edges, showing only modest traces of usage. The gilded sunwheel swastikas are faded on the pommel and brighter on the crossguard. The quillon arms are in the characteristic tripartite design; they arch downward, imparting the impression of a pair of wings. The grip of this dagger has a base of carved wood which has been covered in a fine blue/black Moroccan leather which remains in perfect condition. This leather retains all its original fine grain. The grip is tightly wrapped with the triple springy silver wire. The scabbard shell is straight throughout. It is covered in fine Moroccan leather which matches that used to cover the grip. This leather is in excellent condition, showing a few signs of usage but still is still in nice condition with no tears or splits. The scabbard mounts are of matching satin aluminum and they too are nice and bright throughout, showing only modest usage. These mounts are retained by headless side screws. The accompanying aluminum chain has six upper eyelets and 10 lower eyelets. They are connected to an aluminum snap clip which is marked “Ges Gesch” and “OLC” on the reverse. The fine blade of this dagger is a quality, nickel-plated type, remaining bright throughout and retaining the original, needle-like tip. This SMF marked blade remains in Mint condition with only the standard scuffing from going in and out of the scabbard. The original matching blue leather blade buffer is in place.
