Description: A Beautiful ‘turn of the century’ Oak & Leather Cartridge Magazine with an H&H label Every serious American Gunroom should have one! These are really, rather wonderful pieces, that are seldom seen or appreciated in a modern world of cardboard boxes and plastic shells. This will certainly impress your shooting friends and add a touch of class to your sporting endeavors!
This is a fantastic ‘old world’ item. From a time when the landed and titled English gentry would have their keepers and loaders fill several of these to the brim to enjoy a days sport on the grouse moors or pheasant woods. ‘Woe betide’ the unlucky guest who failed to bring enough cartridges! This would be the ultimate insult to one’s host, suggesting that his shoot wasn’t up to much! The likelihood of a future invitation, non-existent!
I have a good number of all kinds (Mainly Vintage) Oak & Leather, Leather, and Canvas hard cases in my inventory (to be listed over the upcoming months) as well as a large collection of original (Paper & Leather) and top quality, aged, reproduction, gun case labels!
If you don’t like the label (in the case) or it doesn’t match your gun, it can likely be changed. However, there are hundreds of Gunmakers and thousands of labels, so originals, or even reproductions, may be hard to find. Nearly all the English Gun makers had independent companies building their cases, so most English Cases would be correct for nearly any make of shotgun from the correct period. Original vintage leather labels in good condition are rare and fabulous if they can be found, but many 100 yr old paper labels are not great. An aged reproduction might be a better option! Be sure to inquire if you are looking for something specific: But no guarantees!!!
