Vintage Firearms is pleased to offer this Day Arms .22 Long Rifle conversion kit for the M1911 platform. Developed by gunsmith Bob Day, and produced from 1970 to 1978, these kits allow 1911 owners to shoot .22 LR while retaining the familiar trigger, grip frame, and overall feel of their handgun. Unlike many other .22 LR conversion units that rely on proprietary magazines, the Day Arms design uses standard 1911 magazines fitted with dedicated .22 LR inserts. Another notable feature of the Day Arms system is its unique slide operation: rather than the entire upper assembly cycling, only the rear portion of the slide reciprocates. This design provides a steadier sight-mounting surface and reduces sight-plane interruption during firing. This example includes two 1911 magazines and three magazine inserts.
