This sight was introduced in the 1879 catalog and was changed to a thinner base in 1887. Sight base has hole spaced 2 3/16 inches center to center, staff is 4 5/16 inches long with graduations :0,25,50,75, 1, 25, 50, 75, 2, 25, 50. The spring on bottom is stamped "76" by screw hole. Sight retains 80% blue with wear on high edges , turn screw has a couple small dings at edge. Spring remains strong. This comes with correct mounting screws. This sight is shown on page 146 of Herbert Houze's Winchester Model 1876 "Centennial Rifle Book mounted on a rifle presented by Teddy Roosevelt to Bill Merrifield in 1884. A very scarce Winchester 1876 tang peep sight.
