This is an original US M1851 Navy Civil War Era Holster. The black leather holster is in good condition with cracked and crinkled finish, 3 inches of missing seam and a long ago repair at the top of the seam. The front flap is marked just at the bottom lip "J. DAVY & Co. /NEWARK N.J.". The belt loop is in very good condition, has supple leather and retains the original brass hardware. As is common, the leather strap is torn midway. Over-all a fine example and ready for any collection. 16" at the longest and 7 ½" along the flap.;
