This superbly hand made Bowie or splitting knife may look SCARY, and up close and personal it WILL take your breath away. But by handling it, your fears quickly give way to envy for the skills of the man who produced it. It is perfect in size and shape, not too big and yet just big enough to command respect . Whatever you use it for...WHAM!...end of story. It's uniquely remarkable for its beauty. Most pieces like this have fat squarish shaped handles, and numerous file cuts on the top of the blade's spine. This has none of those, and its condition is excellent, its edge is so finely honed it could shave a man's face. Its carbon steel blade was hand-forged with a full tang, and the wood handle attached with brass pins over a full tang. The handle comes to the hand so naturally and comfortable that you just enjoy its touch.
Makers Marked "D.E. VOGT MAKER". The sheath is a River Junction Trade Co. product that has not yet been introduce to our market. The design is intended to be historic and intended to fit many knife variations.
This knife has great collector value, though it would be a shame not to use it. It would be perfect for hunting or collecting. Comes with a 7 1/2" blade (12 1/2" overall length) that is 1 1/2" wide at its widest.
