Large Civil War D Guard - Cutlass 18 Inch Blade 24 Inches Overall

This appears to be blacksmith made Confederate Cutlass - D Guard, Large heavy blade 18 inches, a quarter inch wide at the top of blade 2 1/4 at it's widest from top of blade to the edge. 24 1/2 inches overall. It weighs 2 1/4 pounds. , Grip is walnut and is tight no movement Guard is also tight. Grip has some minor age cracks with wear. D guard at some point had heavy pitting that is visable, however at some point it was painted with silver paint , this was a common practice for Gar members to do when on display. The whole guard has a sandpaper feel to it. Know recent cleaning or paint applied. .Know markings on blade, blade has pitting and some hammer marks here and their made while being made.. There is one sword stirke in the guard and one on the blade.this is a wonderful example of a Confederate Cutlass or D Guard and will be a great addition to any collection. The scabbard in good condition,. This may predate the Civil war. See photo's. Note, I give a 3 day inspection period, once buyer receives item, I must be informed in the 3 day inspection period of intent to return.  if returned I must receive it as Shipped and received by the buyer.  as seen in photos above.
