British 3rd Pattern Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife by Wilkinson
Description: This is a nice condition knife that measures 11 5/8" overall with a 6 5/8" double-edged blade that retains the factory edges and 90-95% of the original dark blued finish, with the balance having smooth plum-brown freckling. The oval metal guard is stamped "ENGLAND" on the underside, the cast alloy grip retains 75-80% of the original matte black finish, and there is a crisp "1" mold stamp at the pommel. The presence of the "ENGLAND" stamp, and lack of British inspection proofs, means this was one of 167,000 such knives shipped to the USA as partial payment for Lend-Lease during the war. The knife is housed in its original sew-in brown leather sheath, missing the elastic keeper. The leather body is heavily scuffed towards the tip, and there are some seam separations on the tab where the keeper used to be. This is a very nice original F-S stiletto, and rates fine-excellent condition overall. SOLD Manufacturer: British Model: Knife |
