WWII-era Cattaraugus Model 225 Q Quartermaster fighting knife produced during World War II when Cattaraugus ceased regular production to manufacture knives exclusively for the military, featuring a 6-inch curved blade with 10.5-inch overall length and stacked leather washer handle construction. Left side of blade clearly marked "Cattaraugus" with "225 Q" stamped below near the ricasso area. Brown leather wrapped handle constructed with multiple stacked leather washers and fitted with metal pommel cap with checkered surface. Complete with original left-handed brown leather sheath with metal snap closure, perimeter stitching with metal reinforcements, and belt loop attachment. The 225Q Quartermaster Knife served dual purposes as a tool for opening ammunition boxes and cargo crates while also functioning as an effective fighting knife in battlefield conditions. These knives played significant roles in early WWII battles including Guadalcanal and North Africa campaigns and are distinguished as the only fighting knives of WWII issued with left-handed scabbards.

VG+ knife with a bright blade showing minimal oxidative flecking, no evidence of sharpening, leather washers without significant oil darkening, comparable condition pommel. VG sheath with mildewed staining, leather a bit stiff, no losses or repairs.
