Bergmann 1910 pistol, WWI German Army, 16748, 9mmBB, PCA-179
Description: Scarce Bergmann Bayard 1910, 9mmBB, as made in Liege, Belgium for the German Military, this example with unnumbered grips and magazine. Standard configuration single action locked breech pistol with 4” barrel having fixed front and rear sights. Left side of barrel extension with usual manufacturer marking and location in Liege. No proofs or markings on right side of frame, barrel and barrel extension. Serial number 16,748 under frame extension. Fixed lanyard loop. The German Army pistols are found in the serial range 15,000-16,000, reported examples 15,109-16,757, this pistol just a few digits from the end of the contract, and discussed at length in the "Central Powers Pistols" book by Jan Still on pages 247-252. Synopsis: Scarce Bergmann Bayard 1910, German Army procurement, documented serial range. Condition: VG original condition with scattered rust freckling and etching as pictured over most of the pistol. The closely serialed example numbered 16,757 to the one pictured in Jan Still's book on page 251, is virtually in the same condition. Much of the original fireblue remains on the extractor. In the white parts, with expected staining and discolorations, no suggestions of enhancement. Comparable condition grips, oil darkened with handling marks consistent with the overall condition of the gun. Slightly etched bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. A scarce military pistol by any metric, especially nice in that a closely serialed exampled was pictured in Jan Still's reference book. ~~Insured shipping fee of $65; most packages shipped using FedEx 2nd Day.~~ SOLD Manufacturer: Bergmann Serial Number: 16748 Caliber Info: 9mmBB |
