WW2 German Dive Knife
Description: This is an unmarked knife measuring 13" overall and having an 8 1/4" straight, unfullered, single-edged blade with 2 3/4" false edge and 1 1/4" ricasso. The steel has an overall bright gray patina with darker freckling and pinprick pitting at the tip, as well as mild cleaning and sharpening marks along the surface and edge of the blade. The ridged brass hilt has a length of 4 3/4" (including the threaded bolster at the base of the blade) and narrows up the grip before flaring out at the blade. The brass has a fairly bright yellow-ochre patina with scattered minor handling marks and surface scratches, including a few deeper impact marks on the dome of the pommel. The cylindrical brass scabbard has a matching patina with small marks around the rectangular hanger loop and at the rounded tip. These are rare knives and are seldom encountered. {Ref. “Fighting Knives – An Illustrated Guide to Fighting Knives and Military Survival Weapons of the World" by Frederick J.
