Excellent Scarce F. Draper & Co. 12 Ga Brass Shotshell 1864 Civil War Patent Date
Description: This is a F. Draper & Co. patented shotgun shell that had a unique knurled rim which unscrews to allow for reloading with a percussion cap. They were patented by William H. Wills of Boston, MA and produced by F. Draper & Company of East Cambridge, Connecticut. The flat brass base is marked "F. D. & Co." / "Patented Nov 29 1864". In excellent condition the 12 gauge brass shell measures 2 ½ inches and appears to have seen little or no use with the end easily unscrewing which is not common for these. An outstanding example with a Civil War Patent date that will add to any cartridge collection and would be great to display with an antique shotgun. SOLD |
