National Armory Packet of 12 "Martin" primed .44 Smith & Wesson's Army Revolver Cartridges,1871
Description: This is truly a piece of our nation's history. It is a sealed, never been opened box of 12 shrink-wrapped Martin-primed (the predecessor of Benet priming) .44 S&W's Army Revolver cartridges (also known as .44 American) manufactured by the U.S. National Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1871. The armory was commissioned in 1777, the brainchild of George Washington, as a way to better protect the fledgling nation from the British. This packet is dated August of 1871 and could be one of the latest of those manufactured before the National Armory was decommissioned in favor of the more modern Frankford Arsenal in Pennsylvania. It is sealed tight, with no seam splits, and the the pull-string is intact. The name alone is enough to establish the labeled box as worthy of a place in the best of collections. We acquired this packet from a highly respected collector and author in the vintage ammunition field, whose word countless people have relied on in their own collecting efforts. The box is sold as a collector's item only, not to be fired nor attempted to be fired under any circumstances whatsoever. High therefore assumes all liability for the result of firing or attempting to fire the cartridges in the sealed box in this listing. There is no return priviege for factory sealed ammuntion. Thanks for looking. Handgun Caliber: .44 American Price: $895.00 Contact Seller |
