Scarce Sealed! 1870's Woodcut US Cartridge Co. 22 Short 100 Count
Box Lowell Mass
Description: This is a full and sealed box, 100 original rounds, of .22 Short ammunition manufactured by the US Cartridge Company in Lowell, Massachusetts and is from the 1870's Woodcut label issues. The one piece box has a beautiful wood cut graphic on the primary label featuring hunting scenes, rifles and pistols along with the company shield logo. The label has crisp, clean graphics with an unfortunate torn missing piece in the lower bottom left corner. The yellow/orange side seal is fully intact. The box has nice corners and edges with the cover slightly uneven and bubbled up a bit. Identified as US-2 S-1(b) in Roger Huegel's online .22 Rim Fire Box ID Reference based on the original Dunn classification system. A beautiful example of perhaps one of the best looking 22 boxes from the late 19th century. SOLD |
