The cartridges are contained in a wooden block, which is wrapped in brown paper with a block printed label that reads in nine lines: "Six Seamless Skin / CARTRIDGES / FOR COLT, WHITNEY, or REMINGTON'S / NAVY PISTOL."/ 36-100 Calibre / Hotchkiss’ Patent, Feb. 11th, 1862 / MANUFACTURED FOR W.j. SYMS & BRO./ 300 Broadway, New York / By D.C. SAGE Middletown, Conn." The Civil War era packet is intact and in good to near fine condition with wrinkled legible graphics having some seam separation along the top edge. A scarce original packet from a desirable maker.
