Civil War Painted Escutcheon Named To Pvt. Edwin C. Perkins of Co. C. Mass. 22nd Infantry
Description: An Early & All Original Large Civil War Painted Escutcheon Named To "Private Edwin C. Perkins" Of "Co. C. Mass. 22nd Infantry" In Fine Untouched Condition. All original and complete. Private Perkins Mustered into Co. C. Mass. 22nd Infantry On Sept. 20, 1861 and did not muster out until September 19, 1864. Edwin and his Company C. Regiment were in just about every major battle or picket there was in Virginia & PA. Theses included Yorktown, Hanover, Mechanicsville, Gaines Mills, Chancelloraville, Gettysburg, Colpeper, Wilderness, Spottsylvania, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and many more' He was also captured & was in prison from June 21, 1862 to Aug. 15, 1862, when he was Paroled and returned to his regiment. The large escutcheon is very ornate and has all of his battles and information hand painted on it. This includes every battle or picket he was in during the war. It is very colorful as shown in the photo and has a large American Eagle on the top. It is glass covered and framed. The entire escutcheon measures 31 inches by 23 inches.
