RMA Marked British Pattern 1837 Brunswick Rifle Bayonet by Enfield

Description:
This is a sword-type bayonet that measures 26 5/8" overall, with a 22" leaf-shaped, double-edged blade having narrow central fullers along the forte. The blade has a pleasant, pewter gray patina, with small spots of surface freckling scattered throughout on both faces, heaviest towards the tip. The ricasso obverse has a "(Crown) / VR" cypher, with "ENFIELD 1846" stamp, and "(Crown) / E / 6" stamp on the reverse. The cast brass hilt has an overall yellow-ochre patina with two forward-swept quillons, double tapered ridged grip, and functional press-stud. A large unit marking is present on the pommel: "RM / A / 37" (possibly Royal Military Academy marking); and further stamps on the pommel straddling the capstan rivet. No scabbard present. This is a fine Brunswick Rifle bayonet, and is in very good plus condition overall.;
