South African Marked Indian Pattern 1907 Mk. 1** Bayonet

Description:
This is a refurbished, British-made, 1907 Lee-Enfield bayonet that was shortened to 16 11/16" overall, with a 12" straight, single-edged blade having single fullers. The blade retains 97-98% of a lovely arsenal blued finish with silvering along the high edges and some fading within the fullers. The original maker markings are still visible, but only partially legible, and there is a large “MK I**" on the ricasso reverse, as well as Indian inspection and repair marks on the obverse: “FR 56 / X". The hilt has an excellent blued finish while the wooden grip panels have a small “S ^ A" South African stamp on the obverse. The short scabbard is included and is in fine condition with only minor wear to both the leather and blued finish on the metal.
