US Model 1917 Bayonet by Winchester
Description: This is a nice example that measures 21 3/4" overall, with a 17" single-edged blade having single fullers. The blade has a fine original dull gray factory finish with some minor spots of plum-brown freckling near the tip, and dark original bluing on the ricasso. The ricasso itself has crisp original stamps with "1917" date and "W (in circle)" on the obverse, and "(flaming bomb) / US" (plus inspection stamps) on the reverse. The hilt retains most of the original blue finish with gray meyal on the balance, and the walnut grips are in fine condition. The bayonet is housed in the original leather and steel scabbard that has a mottled gray-black patina on the throat and chape, while traces of the original olive paint are present along the seam along the reverse. This is a very nice example of a desirable Winchester-made bayonet, and is in fine-near excellent condition overall. SOLD Manufacturer: Winchester Model: Bayonet |
