WW1 British Pattern 1907 Bayonet by Wilkinson
Description: This is a February, 1916, dated bayonet that measures 21 7/8" overall, with a 17" straight, single-edged blade having long single fullers. The steel has an overall mottled gray-black patina with deeply pitted "blood-spotting" at the tip on either side. The ricasso has clear "(Crown) / GR," "WILKINSON / PALL MALL," and "X" markings, with clear Broad Arrow and acceptance proofs as well. The hilt has a dark brown, freckled patina on the metal components, while the walnut grip panels have been arsenal refinished to fine condition, having some minor handling marks in the military oil finish. The bayonet is housed in an "HGR" marked, black leather scabbard with darkly patinated steel furniture. The scabbard has a 1915 dated canvas frog with "M.E. CO. 1915" manufacturer’s inkstamp. This is a very good, WW1 dated and issued British bayonet overall. SOLD Manufacturer: Wilkinson Model: Bayonet |
