Charles Newton contributed numerous innovative ideas and designs to the firearms industry between the years 1905 and 1932. His ballistic experimentations using the premise of a large shell case for caliber to attain high velocity, led to the development of many new cartridges from .22 to .40 caliber, a few of which were the .22 Savage High Power, .250-3000 Savage, .22 Newton, .256 Newton, .30 Newton, .35 Newton and .40 Newton. By incorporating his cartridges with new ideas for rifle designs, Newton marketed high power rifles from 1914 until the late 1920s. He imported rifles from Germany in 1914 and 1922 to sell in his proprietary calibers and starting in 1916 and 1924, he manufactured two models of Newton rifles using his own design ideas.
All models of Newton rifles are detailed including the 1914 Rifle Group, the First Model 1916, the Model 1922 German imports, the Second Model 1924 Buffalo Newton rifle and the LeverBolt rifle.  Standard and factory available options, mechanical workings of each model, one-of-a-kind rifles and developments that never came to be are listed and discussed in this edition. The Newton Rifle, second edition, contains the history of each Newton associated enterprise along with sections on Newton related products such as ammunition, cartridge head stamps, cartridge boxes, catalogs and reloading tools. Some of the information included herein has never been presented by any other source i.e. a rifle from the first and only shipment of 24 rifles imported by Newton in 1914 and an original, custom rifle made by Fred Adolph in caliber .40 Newton. Once again, most of the chapter on the Model 1914 Rifle Group has been re-written due to the surfacing of new data and information.
