Description: A Very Early & Desirable U.S. Civil War Painting Signed By "WILLIAM PENFOLD, (1827-1875) Of An Early Soldier Holding A Maynard Carbine Over A Killed Deer & Wearing A Holster Rig, Dated 1860, Possibly Confederate. The early painting is fine throughout and untouched as shown. It has very fine detail and colors throughout it including the deer & trees. It is signed on the bottom, "W. PENFOLD/NOV. 1860" The fine painting measures 17 1/2 inches by 14 1/2 inches which does not count the frame.
William Penford was an American portrait painter who was actice in New York during the mid 19th century. He was also the father of "Frank Crawford Penfold who became one of western New York's most celibrated impressionist painters.
