CIVIL WAR Antique U.S. Model 1840 LIGHT ARTILLERY Saber North South Horse Artillery Sidearm
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique U.S. Model 1840 LIGHT ARTILLERY Saber North South Horse Artillery Sidearm Here we present an antique U.S. Model of 1840 Light Artillery Saber, made circa the 1840s through the 1860s. These were based upon a French design and were carried by light or “horse” artillery soldiers on both sides of the conflict—these units would ride into battle with their smaller artillery pieces, not the sort of giant pieces that are associated with siege warfare. The Model 1840 features a beautifully curved blade with a single brass knucklebow instead of a basket hilt. The grip is wrapped in leather and braided wire. There is a “W” within a circle stamp on the left side of the ricasso. The overall length is 37 inches. This saber would have been used in the American Civil War by Union Artillery Troops. The overall condition is very good. The blade is bright. The hilt is solid and in good shape. The finish on the scabbard has matured to a brown patina and remains in good condition. “2603 is stamped on both the left side of the hand guard and the scabbard. “410” and “688” are marked on the right side of the hand guard. Here is a great Civil War Light Artillery Saber to display in your collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1055 #200812 SOLD Antique: Yes |
