I believe this to be a war of 1812 light dragoon officer , possibly Charleston ,South Carolina , I did some research and this is what I concluded. The Uniform is styled like a light dragoon officer of this period with star buttons. This has been remove from its original frame and put into this ornate oval frame. This officer has the aristocratic look, and the artist who did the portrait truly beyond at his art. I was originally told this was a Missouri by the seller , but it is not. This is a large portrait ,and heavy. 859-533-5445 This is period oil on canvas.
