Early Confederate First National Flag 8 Star
Description: This early Confederate First National flag is a really incredable piece of history an early example with 8 stars on each side of the canton. The seams are well exicuted hand sewn Fremch seams The entire fklag is tacked to a piece of unbleached muslin for display and framing.. What exactly the 8 stars signify I do not know for certain, but if I am correct, Virginia was the 8th state to join the Confederacy and so this may have been used in Virginia or to signify their joining the Confederacy.. This flag is a double sided flag, very well made with very precise hand stitching throughout. The stars are sewn mirror image both sides of the canton through with a single strand of thread holding each opposing star with all the edges of each star folded under then sewn. The seams that attach each color of cloth together are hand sewn french seams and very well done. the canton is formed by two lengths of cloth stitched together in the middle as seen in these pictures...Please examine the pictures for all detail. If you want to see views of specific areas of the flag please let me know via email and I will send them sasp within a day or two of request. You will not find another exactly like this one but similar in material used to construct and methods of assembly. This is the 4th Confederate flag I have owned, material is very similar almost identical, to two smaller 'Bible Flags' and came from a collector in Utah that had several I could choose from when I got this from him. He told me he had gotten this flag from an in Michigan years earlier. Dimensions are about 26 inches by 16 inches for the body of the flag and the muslin cloth it's attached to measures about 39 by 36 ninches. A one of and a really beautiful example of an incredable early war Civil War period flag...As with all of the listings I will consider any reasonable offer. Shipping for this is $25.00, insurance is additional. SOLD |
