Investment Grade Civil War M1852 Ames Naval Officers Sword MINT Early Production
Description: Investment Grade Civil War M1852 Ames Naval Officers Sword MINT Early Production This is the Finest example of a Civil War Model 1852 Ames Naval Officer's sword. Full gilt remaining on hilt and all scabbard mounts. Ames blade in full etching, full luster, fully frosted. The Naval Officers sword is modeled after the Model 1850 Foot Officer's sword, but much more rare, as there were significantly lower numbers manufactured. Most Naval Officer's swords are found in conditions of great distress, deteriorating scabbards and oxidized blades. This is the FINEST, NEAR MINT / MINT example of this rare Civil War Navy Sword I have ever seen, and doubt to ever see another of this quality. Additionally, the blade is etched with the earlier block letters, indicating pre-war manufacture, making this example more rare still, and in existence through the entirety of the conflict. The scabbard is very strong, brass mounts firmly secure, with only the slightest aging of the leather as visible in the photos. This is Museum Quality Investment Grade. There is not another of this quality and condition, and manufactured by Ames, the premier American Sword Manufacturer from the early 1800's through the Civil War, and most highly collected of all manufacturers.
