CDV of Chief Crow King Hunkpapa Lakota Chief Fought at Little Big Horn
Description: A rare framed CDV image of Chief Crow King, a Hunkpapa Lakota Chief that fought at the Battle of Little Big Horn...he had 80 warriors that fought with him. He was one of Sitting Bulls war chiefs at that battle. He led his 80 warriors against Custer's men on Calhoun Hill and Finley's Ridge. Crow King attacked Custer's men from the South, allowing Crazy Horse and Gall to surround the 7th Cavalry. Crow King has a U.S. Majors Jacket on, probably captured from the battle of Little Big Horn!!! He is also holding a rare pipe in his hands, a Catlinite ceremonial pipe, another name is Pipestone. The condition of this framed CDV is excellent, no damage and was cared for by its original owners!!! David Francis Barry (1854-1934) was the photographer. This image was captured at Fort Buford, North Dakota in 1881. Chief Crow King with several Lakota leaders who surrended to the United State Army in 1881 with Sitting Bull.
