WWI German M-1898/05 Bayonet/Scabbard 1915
Description: M-1898/05 Bayonet (Seitengewehr), which was the most common German Bayonet of the First World War, used on the standard issue service rifle of Imperial Germany, the Mauser-designed Gewehr 98 (GEW 98). It features a heavy 14 3/8" steel blade with distinct bulge toward the point. This is a nice example of a Simon & Co. Suhl, early type 98/05 with a trimmed muzzle ring and no flash guard. The unsharpened blade is very good bright condition, light oxidation freckling with correct tip, length is correct at 14 3/8". The spine is marked "Crown W 15" and "Crown R". The wood handles are also in very good condition with nice brown patina and are not marked. There is a little surface oxidation on pommel, handle and guard. Pommel is marked "Crown R" maker marks. The scabbard is in very good condition with a silver painted finish. Nice leather frog rounds out the trio. Price: $249.00 Contact Seller |
