Old Pre WW 2 Japanese Childs Katana Hand Forged with Hand Forged Iron Suba
Description: PRICE REDUCED... Very rare to find one of these, this is the second example I have encountered in 35 plus years and I have had many Japanese swords over the years. From the bumps and pits on the tang, which is unsigned, and the fact the iron suba is hand forged, I estimate this sword to be 250 to 300 plus years old. the tang is black from age. The retention peg hole in the tang appears to be punched as opposed to drilled as it is slightly oblong and a little wider on one side as opposed to the other. The blade is very well made no doubt by a very skilled smith. Unfortunateky the sword has seen neglect and so shows some rust damage along it's length. The hamon/temper is visible along most of the blade. I have repaired the original handle but the menuke and wrap are gone along with the endcap. The tip is needle sharp and very well formed. The blade is about 2/3rds the size of a standard Katana being about 26 inches in total length and almost 1 inch wide at the widest point. Please see pictures for details In pristine condition this sword would command a multi thousand dollar price tag due to exceptional rarity. Due to condition I have priced this example at $850.00 plus S&H of $30.00. Contact me for additional information or pictures. Thanks, Mark SOLD |
